Name of Artist: Dates of Artist’s Life: 1. Personal Background: Kyla Elaine grew up in Calgary, Canada. She moved to the Netherlands in 2008 and became very interested in photography. She attended The Fotofactory, in Amsterdam. She has many well known clients such as karl lagerfeld, Tommy Hilfiger, JFK magazine, etc..
2. Style: She works with beauty and fashion mostly, so most of her photos are unique yet modern. She uses light to lure and bring forward the best qualities of pictures, textures and atmospheres. She tells a story and alters reality through her photographs. She loves to play and experiment with light and every day it's an inspiration for her, She likes to make her photos abstract, to make it her own like no one has done before.
3. Philosophy: She has a passion of taking photos, Growing up for Kyla, photos were a way for her to capture the right moment and express her life through her pictures which eventually paid off now. She's taking photos for the highest well known brands like lancome, maybelline, loral, etc... In her free time she likes to take very abstract unique photos.
4. Influences: I love she uses light to make the photo make it more 3D and realistic, her photos are very entertaining and unlike any photo that I've seen. She has influenced me to become a better photographer by not taking any limits and make it express my self in any way possible. I am truly inspired by her work, it is phenomenal.
6. Compare and Contrast: For the mascara, Kyla used lancome, which I didn't have so I ended up using an Estee Lauder mascara. She tries to make the object the focal point or the center piece of the photo. I tried to make my photo more bright and not make the mascara to bland, but I hoped it worked. The shoes were the hardest to re-create cause i don't have the exacted kind of shoe she had so this was the closest I could get to. Her background is pink and I couldn't make a good pink background. The lipstick was the easiest because its just a close up photograph of red lipstick and I hope I was able to make I work.
7. Personal Artist Statement: I personally am Obsessed with make and beauty, so when I saw these 3 photos, I knew that I had to recreate these photos. My style is bold but simple, if that makes sense, me and her have the same passion, I love taking photos in my freetime, so me and her have some common ground. Recreating these photos were really fun, but at the same time hard cause she had better technology in taking photographs than I did, she is a true inspiration to me and I hope I can be like her. I hope you like these photos. Thank you.
